Save Days for Later: Monthly Vacation Caps

You can now tell the planner exactly how many vacation days it may use in any given month, so the rest of your allowance stays reserved for the trips you already have in mind.

A good vacation plan is not only about finding the longest possible breaks. Sometimes you already know that August is for the family trip, or that you want a few days left over in December, and you just need the planner to work around that. Until now, the optimizer would happily spend your whole allowance wherever the best bridges were — even in a month you wanted to keep free.

Monthly vacation caps fix that. You can now set a maximum number of vacation days for any month, and the optimizer will respect it when building your plan.

How it works

There are two places to set a cap, and they stay in sync:

  • Advanced constraints. Open the advanced section of the planner form and use the Add a month… selector to pick the months you want to limit. Each added month starts at 0, which means no cap. Raise or lower the value with the + and − buttons, or type the number directly. A month set back to 0 is simply unlimited again, and you can remove a month entirely with the × button.
  • The calendar. Every month header in the calendar view has a small cap icon in the upper-right corner. Click it to open a quick stepper for that month right where you are looking at the plan: + and − adjust the limit and every change applies immediately — there is nothing to confirm. When a cap is active, its value appears next to the icon so you can see your guardrails at a glance.

Once a cap is set, the optimizer skips any suggestion that would push that month over its limit. Locked days always win against caps: if you lock more days than a month currently allows, the cap is raised to fit them instead of breaking your plans — and the calendar stepper won’t let you lower a cap below the days you have already locked.

Your caps travel with your plan. They are saved in the browser, included when you share a planner link, and applied in every supported country.

Try it

Open the planner, pick your country and allowance, then set a cap for the month you want to protect — either in Advanced constraints or straight from the calendar header. Run the optimization and watch the suggestions stay within your limit while the rest of the year is still optimized around holidays and weekends.

If you are planning around a country with big holiday clusters — like Indonesia’s Eid period — caps are especially handy: you protect the months you need while still optimizing everything else.
